Camera Shutter
Can someone help me find a camera with no shutter lag and high zoom?
I want a camera that can take consecutive pictures one after another. Once I press the button it takes the picture and doesn’t adjust.
I just bought an Olympus sp-570 and there is so much shutter lag. Should I return it and get another camera? Or can I do something about it.
That’s the nature of Point & shoot cameras – lots of shutter lag. You can reduce this if you prefocus and set the exposure before taking the actual shot. This is done by depressing the shutter release button half way and holding it there – making the camera focus and determine exposure before you actually take the shot. When you depress the shutter release button all the way the camera will capture the image with a big improvement in shutter lag. I use this technique all the time, even on my dSLR.
If you want a camera with minimal shutter lag, you need to step up to a dSLR type camera. They still have lag, but it isn’t noticeable unless it starts to focus hunt. dSLR cameras also focus much quicker than P&S cameras. dSLR cameras also do well in continuous shooting modes allowing you to take 100 consecutive shots if you so desire (P&S cameras will allow 5 to 10 consecutive shots). The camera will readjust itself between shots, but it isn’t noticeable unless your subject distance changes a lot.
