Old Pentax Lens On A New DSLR Camera?
Hi, i have a old Pentax MZ-10 and i want to get into photography as a hobby so i wanted to know if i can use the lens (SMC PENTAX-FA 28-80mm) on a new Pentax DSLR body, if so which ones.
And which models are good for beginners.

Yes, it will work on modern Pentax DSLRs…pretty much all Pentax lenses made since 1975 do.
A entry level Pentax camera is currently quite a no-brainer – it’s the Kx what you’re looking for.
Note however that the lens that you currently already own is a dirt cheap kit lens ($20 on ebay); using it to determine which camera brand to “marry” may not be a wise way to make that decision. There is nothing wrong with Pentax, you should just be aware that this isn’t some super expensive lens that you’d miss out if you choose a different brand. It simply may be that you like the haptics and user interface of one of the other brands better, which is purely a matter of personal preference.
So i’d recommend that you go to a store and try out Nikon and Canon models as well (D3100 and 550D), as well as Sony.
Also be aware that this lens will work as a standard zoom – slight telephoto on a DSLR. It doesn’t offer nearly the wide angle (used for landscapes and architecture) of the 18-55 kit lenses that come with new DSLRs, so using this lens to avoid the cost of a bundled kit lens may not work out.
I do quite often use a 28-80 lens myself, but that’s a conscious choice in those situations; if one doesn’t know what one will come across yet (and hasn’t found one’s style of photography yet) a 18-55 usually is better.
