IR filter canon 500d?
Hi
I have a canon 500d with an 18-55mm lens.
im looking to get an IR filter for it. (I have heard that the dont work well with this lens)
could anyone tell me what IR filter would work best with this lens?
and
what lens would be best to upgrade to for an IR filter?

Like almost all DSLR cameras your 500D has a filter that blocks infrared from hitting the sensor. The lens used has nothing to do with your camera’s ability to make IR pictures. If you attach an IR filter you can try some very long exposures but don’t expect too much. You might be better off trying what this article suggests: http://www.shutterbug.com/content/faux-infrared
There is a company that will convert your 500D but its expensive.
