What if I do not know the address of the person caught in my car speeding by a camera?
What if I do not know the address of the person caught in my car speeding by a camera or license number? What do I do? Fill it out as unknown? Do I have to pay the ticket because of this? Will I have to go to court?
So can anyone actually answer my questions?
Only 24% of photo radar tickets are paid in the state of Arizona.
I don’t have any direct experience with a ticket for speeding where my license plate was recorded and I received a ticket. It would be my guess that before your jurisdiction went to that way of giving tickets, it was written into the law that the car owner is ultimately responsible.
Around here, it has been that way for years with parking tickets. Regardless of who parked the car, the owner is ultimately responsible to pay. I think it is the same in places where they photograph the license plates of people going through a toll booth without paying. The owner is responsible for the fine.
Unless the person who was driving will agree to go to court with you and admit to being the driver, I’m afraid you are just stuck with the fine.
If you were provided with some sort of form to fill out if you were not the driver, then I’d either try to find out the speeder’s address or else just put down his/her last address that you know. I would expect that if you knew the person well enough to lend him/her your car, you would know how to find the person if the car had not been returned!
