Coolpix P100 Review
Everything you’ve heard about the Coolpix is true, the 10 megapixel Nikon P100 is loaded with some very cool features. With your purchase of a Nikon P100 camera, you not only get a powerful, potent tool, you also get seventeen individual modes for capturing pictures. It offers an active zooming characteristics, scene auto selector features, the ability to track subjects, and distortion control to maximize picture quality. The Nikon P100 is sold with the lightweight camera body, the lithium ion battery, the charger, a USB cable for computer connection and AV cable, and a Coolpix software application on CDROM for image organizing and editing.
Nikon packed a lot of features into a tiny 4.5 inch width by 3.3 inch height and 3.9 inch depth frame that is surprisingly lightweight. This excellent device only weighs 17 oz, and yet it includes a 10 megapixel CMOS sensing unit. When you depress the button on the Nikon P100, you capture your image on a JPEG file. But when you use the video feature on the camera, those are stored in MOV format. The Nikon P100 has a 460K dots per inch LCD display. You will be able to take up to 250 pictures on a single charge of the lithium ion battery in the P100 by Nikon. In addition, there are 7 ISO sensitivity modes, which are: ISO 3200, ISO 1600, ISO 800, ISO 400, ISO 200, ISO 160, and automatic.
You will also receive an excellent number of white balance modes, such as flash modes that can be personalized, standard flash modes, fluorescent daylight and daylight white, basic fluorescent lighting, automatic, radiant lighting, plus others. Moreover, there are up to 14 different recording settings, such as video recording on high speed, standard video, user modes, manual modes, shutter or aperture priority, subject following, automatic scene selector, scene, and more. Additionally, one gets five focus modes in the P100 including Infinity, Macro, Center AF, Manual AF and 9 point AF.
The Nikon P100 is constructed to offer a range of metering modes, a range of color effects; it has burst mode features, and a whole lot more. The various color effects are sepia, red, monochrome filter, orange, yellow, black and white, vivid, more vivid, portrait, and customized. The many metering modes are Matrix, Spot, Center weighted, and AF Area.
The LCD display on the Nikon P100 can be adjusted to allow you the most comfortable viewing angle possible for any shot you want to get. Perfect for stabilizing the camera during the use of the zoom lens, the P100 comes fully prepared with an electric zoom finder. You may not find a better digital camera for super fast zoom-in/zoom-out speeds. It also has some of the best noise reducing characteristics. A high-speed multi-shot feature allows for lightning fast sports action picture captures. The camera offers shot to shot features, and exceptional shutter lag. For everything you get with this remarkable camera, you really can’t beat it’s very reasonable price, too!
