How do you import clips from a video camera onto final cut express 4?
Im new with the program, and when I plug it in, nothing happens?
Final Cut Express supports very little formats. If you would like to directly import it from a camera this is what you do:
When your camera is plugged into your computer go to View > Refresh AV devices (this will research for newly plugged in cameras)
Go to File > Log and Capture
When you do this, a window will pop up. Set your cameras mode to the playback mode. You can rewind the tape to the point where you want to start “logging” aka importing.
When you have set the camera where you want to start importing you can then use the Log and Capture window to name the clips if you wish. You can also change the name via the broswer when the clips are imported.
When this is all done press the bottom right corner button Capture Now. Another window should pop up and the video playback should pop up. It will start capturing to your computer. You will see the video playback in the Capture Now window. When you want to stop importing simply press the Esc key. The window will close and your newly imported clip will bel located in your browser in whatever name you named it.
