Getting Upper Management Support For Six Sigma Training
In medium-sized to large companies, there is often a break-down of communication among the ranks of employees and the levels of operations. At the service and production level, supervisors and managers may recognize the need for advanced training and improvement processes for the employees at this level. Receiving permission from upper level management for training such as Six Sigma to help improve the production can be the deciding factor in a company’s success and future stability.
Gaining permission from upper level management to implement Six Sigma training for entry level and higher levels of employees can make the difference in the quality of the work produced. Though upper level management may be hesitant to approve of the training for these employees, the end result will be a long-term improvement and dependability which will better the company’s product or service, as well as raise standards amongst the employees. There is a saying that all companies are dependent upon its lowest level employees for the success of the company. This is true to the effect that if things are not ran smoothly and correctly from the ground up, there will be malfunctions, defects and errors, and problems which will rise amongst the ranks and filter to the top. These problems are costly and time consuming and will result in a company running without a steady and solid foundation.
Anytime a business has to repeatedly spend time and money correcting problems in customer service or general production, or even in administrative paperwork, the business is losing money on the time spent correcting the problem. One assured way to avoid these time-consuming and costly problems is to ensure that employees at all levels have received a thorough and comprehensive set of tools and an effective training guide to allow them to operate to their fullest potential and to gain the ability to quickly solve problems on their own.
Having the ability to do this will result in a company that is self-sufficient and productive. Meeting customer satisfaction and expectations is imperative. To be able to successfully meet the demands and expectations of the public and consumers, a company must have a complete and dependable training process in place which will give the employees at all ranks the knowledge needed to be able to operate efficiently.
If upper level management approves Six Sigma training for employees at all levels, especially the lower level and production line employees, the management team is taking accountability for its production. Correcting problems and errors will be able to be completed quickly and without a lot of time wasted on defects and malfunctions. This will save the business money on problem-solving issues and will increase goals and standards amongst the employees.
As these employees at lower levels are promoted and work their way up through the ranks, they will be taking with them a valuable set of tools and a higher level of standards which will be beneficial to the company. When these employees become managers themselves, they will be able to pass along their training and to encourage problem-solving skills to others in the company.
