Flash Telephoto
I have a new Nikon d80 with a SB-800 flash, Tamron 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 Aspherical Lens for Nikon Digital SLR ,?
Tamron Zoom Telephoto AF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 LD Macro Autofocus Lens , should i buy a different type lens to do a wedding or will the lens i have work just fine. Thanks for any advice.
My friends that shoot weddings, use the 24-70 f/2.8 mm lens almost exclusively. It is fast and can shoot both “group” shots and “candid portraits” without having to change lenses. They use either the SB-600 or SB-800 flash for flash fill.
On your camera it would be the equivalent to a 36-105 mm on your old Nikon 35 mm camera. The 28-80 mm f.3.5~5.6 covers about the same range, but is quite “slow” at 80 mm, f/5.6 vs f/2.8 at 70 mm on the 24-70 mm lens. Using a 75-300 mm is fine for shooting wildlife or field sports, but excessively long for shooting events like weddings (112-450 mm equiv.)
