My focus spiritual, family & career
There is a divine order that we must all follow in order to live according to the will of Christ. Now how we define that order is an individual thing. I want to follow the steps of Christ. And I see that the order as Christ first, next there is family and then there is business. As long as I put Christ as the head of my life then all other areas will flow as natural spring water. But it is those times that we loose our focus that the ripples and waves cause us to stumble, slip and fall. But in our stumbling we can get back on track if we stop, and wait on his instructions to resume this race with patience. Ask yourself, were are you at this very moment?
SPIRITUAL FOCUS
Where am I actually when it comes to my relationship with Christ? Do I really take it seriously that daily he supplies all my needs, that his breathe flows through my body, it is because of his grace.
How do I value the task that he has given me? Do I really treasure the gifts he has blessed me with or do I take them for granted as if I am so special? I am at a position that my focus has waved because of nothing more than everyday issues! I am asking myself, when I talk to God am I waiting for a reply? Is it my own notion that is being followed and not his direction? I want the directions of Christ not the notions of Angel. What, do I trust that he is taking care of me or that I go to work everyday? We must realize that Christ empowers, gives us a mind to want to be providers for our families. But we often times take it for granted that it is of our own accord. I am guilty of this. When my daily tasks are running into and over each other, it is because somewhere along the way I lost focus. I have come to know that it is how I start my day! Did I ask him to lead and guide me through the day? Did I give him praise for allowing the sun to set and rise again? Yes, I am grateful for the things some think as common, do we take time to appreciate those things?
Did I put him in total control? Or did I think I can I handle it all? Truly, I can not handle anything without him.
He is my rock and may he forgive me for not focusing on him. If my focus has moved from the likes of Christ, then all other areas of my life will not flow right! I don’t care how I try and rearrange things to make them work and make sense, until I stop and say “Angel, look to God”, I am going in a circle! I don’t want to keep going in circles. I don’t want to be in the same place I was in last week. I crave growth. But if I keep doing it my way, there is no growth. Just that circle. And it is a circle because the lesson is not being learned. It is a circle because you have not referenced God. It is a circle because he is trying to get your attention. It is a circle because he has a better plan for you. You are struggling to make it all come together and he has a plan that is not as complicated. You have taken 20 steps for a task and all it really took was two! I don’t know about you but the circle of trying to do things my way has caused me to be dizzy and unbalanced. I need an anchor and that anchor is in Christ Jesus.
So now, let us look at the other areas that need our focus. Once we make Christ our main focus, his next step for us would be our families.
FAMILY FOCUS
I am a single mother. And what I want to give my children goes beyond their daily needs. It brings me pleasure to know that through Christ, I am a provider. What I need for them is more than shelter, food & clothing. I want to instill good values and morales. I want to teach my children that before you take on anything, count the cost. Examine your tasks at hand. Gather all the tools so that they are prepared to complete the job. We should teach that their name speaks louder than words. Some may not consider this, but there is much in a name. Your name carriers weight in so many ways. What does your name carry? Does it carry strength, courage, faithfulness to your word? Or does it carry disappointment, being reliable? And know this, it is Christ that gave you that name and it is Christ that will teach you just what your name means. When my children become positive and effect parts of the community, it is their names that will carry them. Yes, one might say ” are you Angel Ferguson’s daughter or son? But it is how they conduct themselves that will make the difference.
I want to instill just what the word character means to my children. I want them to know it is their reaction to any situation that will determine the out come. Don’t misunderstand I don’t want perfect children because they need room to grow. Realizing our word is our bond. Do not take on more than you can handle are important lessons as well. I look at the habits of my children and have come to realize that they have taken on some of my habits! Do I practice what I teach and preach? Have I examined the task at hand and gathered all of my tools so that my job may be complete? Am I being a positive or negative example? We can teach, show and preach but our actions are much louder than our words. What do they see when they see me?
There is a daughter that I constantly worry about. It is the standards and morals that I am teaching and being an example of. There are so many lessons that we must teach as they are future mothers, homemakers, and business minded individuals in this world. We must teach them that above all be a lady- a woman of standards with integrity. Being a guide is not always easy,when I step out of line, I am reminded that someone is watching me. My Daughter! It is my reaction to daily life that will determine the lessons learned through observation
There are my sons, what I give them is that a man should always have a plan! Think before you react in any occasion. And there are some things I can not teach them because I can not relate. One thing I can do is to teach Christ. We can so all things through Christ Jesus that strengthens us!
For my children will know what it means to be a provider. A provider has a concern and focus for the future. It is my job to teach them that their value has nothing to do with the clothing and shoes but the substance within. The lesson of knowing just who holds all power. The lesson of teaching it is Christ that gives us the notion to succeed. These lessons are being taught daily, therefore I am careful in what I do and say.
MY CAREER
Where shall I began? It is because of Christ that I have this career in order to take care of my family. It is all connected although often times it can overlap! I am constantly on the go. Busy with this and that and sometimes neglecting this. I am trying not to let my career over power me. I want to stay focus so that I do not get burned out. But let me tell you that at the end of the day, when the bills are paid and we get to do some of the things we want to without breaking the bank, it is awesome. I enjoy being the provider for my family. Don’t get me wrong, it is not easy on one income two would be great but with the help and guidance of Jesus Christ, I make it work. It is in those times when I stress he reminds me that he has it all in control. It is in those times when I feel that I really can not handle this alone that he reminds me that I am not. He is holding me up. Giving me an avenue that I alone could not see or comprehend. When I want to throw in the towel and take some time off, he refreshes me in ways that a shower could never accomplish. Believe it or not, I get my refreshing through writing.
Within my career, there is much to do and just learning to set small reachable goals has taken me a long way. I have learned to set aside time for the aspects of office management. It is refreshing to know that the most important areas have been addressed and no longer neglected. Daily something in business becomes either out dated or new. But to me the basics are all the same. If my office is being efficiently run then I am prepared for my clients.
My dedication comes through the gifts given. How could I let go of what he gave me?
My focus for Christ, family and my career are all tied together. I have learned that I can not do one thing without the other, they are all linked. Knowing your area of focus is important. It brings balance to our lives. When all aspects of our life are not put into perspective, they will over lap. Here is a challenge to you. Get your focus in order. Bring some balance into your relationship with Christ so that he may enhance your focus on your family and your career. If your focus is not on him, how can you effectly be a wife, husband,home maker, business owner etc. First allow him to renew you and then he will guide you in how to approach all the other areas we have all neglected at one time or another.
