in Korea exchange rate is 1$=1550 won, if i buy camera on the KOR market will I save money since Im American?
I am looking to buy a Camera for 1,360,000 Won, Its a Nikon D90-with starter lense. Today’s exchange rate makes this exactly $878.9479 USD. A quick Google search will show you that the same camera is between $1200.00-$1800.00 USD in the US. I was hoping someone could make sense of this for me and let me know if I’d actually be saving money by buying the camera in KOR, or at a US store.
-The camera is genuine Nikon- It comes with standard warranty.
You will likely save money by buying the camera in Korea. If you buy in the US, you’ll have the sales tax to pay.
But bear in mind that sometimes the models being sold there are not the same as those sold here, and you may have problems if you need warranty and/or repair services in the US.
I remember long ago that I bought a pair of brand name sneakers in Itaewon ( Seoul ) which was about 1/2 the price it would cost in the US. Served me very well for many years – but sneakers don’t need warranty work, so I was safe in that respect.
