What is a good tripod that you would recommend ? Manfrotto or Gitzo ?
I am looking to buy myself a tripod, and I heard that Manfrotto or Gitzo make good tripods.. So I was wondering what king I should look for. I’ll be doing a bit of everything, Macro, Animal photography, Portraits, Sporting events..
Are there any tripods out there you would recommend ?
And I know that quality comes with a certain price, so price is not an issue. I am willing to invest whatever amount is needed
Everyone above makes some good points (especially trying it at a camera store). The one thing I always advise people to consider is the total height. The full tripod height( including the ball head) + camera height= your height (minimum)…for example: I am 6’3″ (75″ tall) – 6″camera= a minimum full tripod height of 69″.
It is easier to shorten a tall tripod than it is to make a short one tall. I have some back issues, so I don’t like bending over when it can be avoided.
As far as shooting sports and animals, I use a monopod when I am not shooting by hand. It allows more speed, freedom, and does not require a large footprint. I use the Manfrotto 685B NeoTec http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387806-REG/Manfrotto_685B_685B_NeoTec_Monopod_Deluxe.html (my tripod is a Manfrotto with a Vanguard head).
