Hood Bayonet
What does a bayonet hood do?
Its a round plastic thing that attaches to a lens
It helps block stray light from entering your lens from obscure angles causing flares which lower the contrast of your pictures as well as cause the ugly halos in your photos. It also helps protect the front element of your lens from getting hit. Some high end canon lenses also have velvet lining the inside of the hood to attract dust so it wont stick to your lens’s front element.
