How to trace the orgin of a digital Image in the Intenet?
If not trace, at least how to extract as much as information about any Digital Image which was downloaded from the Internet.
For example : If we check the properties of a MS Word document – we can identify information about a particular document on its Original Author , The Computers name it was created on, date it was Created , modified or last accessed.
This type of Information is not available when a Digital Image’s properties is checked.
Is there a way or a software to extract more information attributes from a digital Image ? – can a downloaded digital Image be traced in the Internet to its original author ?
ійѕтійст :- Thank you very much. Exif Viewer is a tool to display informations of images from a digital camera. But on the net , most Images are downsized or compressed in to JPG or Gif – thus the compression codec of the Image editor replaces the Exif readable data of an Image. I will wait in case other bright thoughts exsist.
Yes, there is. There is something called an EXIF header, which some digital cameras add to an image (shot using the camera), which contains such information (such as make & model of the camera used for the image, the exposure setting, etc)
This data can be extracted from the images by using some freely available “exif readers” or “exif extractors”. See link for more details and links to several free utilities which do the job.
These don’t usually contain an author field, so it may not be much help in tracking down the originator. But you could glean much valuable information from it, nonetheless.
