Info on Leica D.R.P. Ernst Leitz Wetzlar camera?
My dad gave me my great grandfathers old Leica. I just wanted to know a little information about it.. like the dating and stuff like that. Its serial number is 246318 and the lens is summar f=5cm 1:2 serial number 366537. the shutter goes up to 1000 if that helps. Any info at all would be great
I’m assuming it’s an original (there’s a lot of fakes around)

Back then it really was the best camera money could buy. Quite a few of them were “liberated” in the latter days of WW2 and ended up in North America.
A IIIa in very good condition will be worth 1000-1200 euros. Alternatively you could get it a tuneup and start using it.
