Regular eye exam necessary before contact lens fitting?
Hey, I’m just wondering if a regular eye exam is necessary in order to have a contact lens fitting done? If so, is it possible to have my eye exam in a different place as my contact lens fitting? Would I need to bring my eye glasses prescription from my eye doctor to my contact lens fitting?
If you’ve already ordered the contact lenses then you’ve already had the ‘regular’ examination.
A lens fitting examination is slightly different to a regular examination, as they are going to check that the lenses sit on your eyes properly, they need to check that the lenses move to the correct positions if you’re wearing toric, multi or bi-focal lenses and that you feel comfortable when wearing them. Some opticians will also teach you how to put them in and take them out as well, others will arrange for a tutorial but that depends on the optician.
My advice take your spectacles to your fitting.
