Olympus XZ-1 Digital Camera – an Objective Review
Even though the Olympus XZ-1 Digital Camera was not on the market until 2011, there was word about it and statements well before then. Olympus was pretty successful at getting photographers fascinated with this new and evidently revolutionary digital camera as Olympus has a nice reputation in the camera world.
At long last, it is on the market and people can buy it, so we can examine it and determine how wonderful it really is.

Even though the XZ-1 is small, the controls are not hard to figure out, as you’re presented with a menu that makes it simple to choose the settings you want.
Is there a learning curve before you can successfully use the XZ-1? Maybe, maybe not. How much you need to know will depend on what you already know about digital cameras. It Isn’t All Good
The beauty of the XZ-1 is that it has more than enough advanced features, but the downside is that there are a couple of small oversights that Olympus has, for some reason, overlooked. Olympus didn’t include a grip on the right-hand side of the camera. This oversight can make it difficult for you to hold onto the camera.
There was some discussion about this on the photography forums and the universal solution was just to buy a separate grip. Many people felt it was worthwhile to do this to keep from dropping their camera. There are control buttons that have been placed so that they are very easy to turn on when that is not your intention.
In Summary
If you remain aware of this inconvenience, you won’t have a problem with this design flaw. You just need to make sure you don’t accidentally turn the camera on or change the mode settings when you don’t mean to. If you simply remain aware of what’s going on at all times, you won’t have this problem. Many compact products share this same characteristic. As mentioned above, the Olympus XZ-1 comes with a notable lineup of features.
You will be able to shoot great images no matter what the setting. When you consider the speed of the lens coupled with the small size of the XZ-1, you have before you a cutting-edge camera system. Even so, you may find it a little bit pricey for your needs if you are new to digital photography. After you’ve thought about all of the great features of the XZ-1, you can decide intelligently if it’s the right choice for you.
