Booklet Printing Tips for your Training Manuals
Are you making training manuals? If you are, then there is a high chance that you will be doing some booklet printing. In this small guide, we will teach you a few tricks in booklet printing that can really help your training manual look better and last longer. Also, we can show you how to print booklets properly so that your future trainees will have an easier time learning from your manuals.
1. Tough covers – The first thing that you need to know is to print tough covers. Manuals are usually meant to be reused multiple times and the booklet of the manual will usually experience a lot of weathering and common wear and tear damages. That is why it is important to have tougher covers. This means that while the inside pages are printed in normal paper, your cover should have thicker paper, preferably the ones that are moisture and dirt resistant. This makes your custom booklets last longer, perfect for people who need to reuse the training manuals over and over.
2. Quality paper – Of course, while the cover must be tough, you can also at least try to toughen the inside pages a bit, since people will probably aggressively turn the manual pages while trying to find the information they want. To do this, have your booklet printer use high quality paper that is not easily torn. Usually these kinds of paper stocks are a little thicker with some protective coating on their own. Ask your printer about this. It might get a bit expensive, but you will extend the life of you manuals by years.
3. Proper book sections - Now, as a tip for the booklet itself, you must not forget to place in the proper book or booklet sections in your manual. You can’t just have the information printed as is. It is good to have a table of contents, proper sections or chapters for topics, and a good glossary and index as well. Adding this common book sections adds functionality into your color booklet making it easy to use. This will of course extend the usefulness of your booklet as a manual. So always place in the proper booklet sections in your booklet layout.
4. Use full color illustrations – Also, to increase the effectiveness of your booklets, it is always a good idea to use full color illustrations. Your training manuals will always need illustrations to fully point out the important concepts and steps in training. Printing in full color gives subtle and important details that black and white printing just cannot achieve. That is why your manuals must always be printed in color especially when there are diagrams and images in the layout.
5. Print more than what is needed – Finally, as a booklet printing tip, it is always recommended to print more than what you need. Many people make the mistake in printing “just enough” leading to shortages and reprints down the road. So make sure you have at least 10 to 20 extra pieces of your training manual or even more just for emergencies.
