The aggressively styled Pentax K-x is a 12.4MP dSLR camera from the Pentax camera company. When it comes to looks the K-x really excels if you have always found the simple black color that all the dSLR cameras are then you can have red, blue or white colored K-x camera. However the really cool colors are Japan exclusives you can order from them if you’re in the states or Europe but shipping and customs fees don’t seem worth it.
Picture taking with the Pentax K-x is enjoyable with many features that help the process along. Like for instance if you set the camera to auto the camera self adjusts for each camera taking situation. The other cool thing is the camera has a HDR mode if you know what that is and like how they look this is a function for you.
The Pentax K-x dSLR camera is priced fairly at $649.95 considering all you get. If you want a camera that is easy to use and that allows you to do more with photos than a traditional point-and-shoot camera the Pentax K-x is perfect for you.
Pros:
- The auto-picture mode that will be of great assistance to the inexperienced
- HDR shooting mode now you don’t need to fiddle with Photoshop to get your HDR photos
- Takes all the major image formats like RAW and JPEG
- 120 built in digital filters for interesting shots without the need for post processing
- Fast 4.7FPS continuous shooting (17 images)
- Capable of shooting 720p video at 24fps
- 11-point auto-focus
- Good build quality
- Compact and lightweight
- Sensitivity mode suggests specific camera settings based on what the photographer is attempting to achieve – great for those trying to learn through experimentation
- Great price to performance ratio
- Accepts Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries along with regular AA
- Accepts any k mount lens ever made
Cons:
- viewfinder doesn’t show selected auto-focus points
- More unique colors are Japan Exclusives only
