Nikkor Beautiful
Nikon camera and lens combo suggestion?
I’m a novice so please take that into consideration when answering…I wil buy a Nikon d80 but having a hard time with the lens choice. I just want one. I just want beautiful pictures of my kids, especially close up and some travel shots. I’ve heard good things about the Nikkor 18-200 but hear it’s not so great for close ups and it’s kinda expensive, although if it serves the purpose well, I can afford it. Do you suggest just going with the 18-200 or is there a better lens for what I want to do. Also, is Nikkor really that much superior to Sigma and others?
oh I do want to get the 18-135 since the price is so much better but I’ve read that it’s not a great lens…that it’s made of plastic (?) and has some problems with dark spots in the corners (???-just reporting what I’ve read.)
A 18-200 is an excellent choice but a 18-135 is an excellent value especially when purchased with a D80 (about $800 camera + lens). The advantages of the 18-200 are that it can zoom in closer and it has vibration reduction but it is heaver. The advantages of the 18-135 are that it weighs less, cheaper and it is second most magnification of all of Nikon’s zooms.
