Nikkormat FT lens compatibility?
I have a Nikkormat FT, which isn’t a DSLR cause it’s well….from the sixties. I’m looking into getting some lenses but I really have no idea what to get. There isn’t a camera shop anywhere near me, so I can’t go to ask. I heard the NIKON 18-55/3.5-5.6 G AF-S DX is good, and it’s really in the price range I’m looking for (I’ve seen it between $100 and $150), but I don’t know if I could use it on an SLR camera.
All you need is to make sure the lens has the same ability to mount on a older Nikon F or F2, and meter couple. The horse shoe meter couple device is needed as any lens that is Ai’ed (Automatic Indexed) will not work.
Like the Nikon F camera, the Nikkormat is one heII of a solid and well built camera. Being all mechanical, and very well built, it can last for years and years, like my ol’ F cameras….(and like Harley Davidson motorcycles).
New lenses today don’t have the meter couple shoe anymore, however, many lenses that are full format – MX – still have the “dimples” where the holes are to be drilled and the shoe mounted. All you need is to find a place who can mount the “horse shoe” or rabbit ears and your good as gold..
