Padded Pouch
Are gel or fabric toe pads best for pointe shoes?
Ever since I’ve started dancing on pointe, I’ve used “ouch pouch” toe pads. My ballet teacher says they are better than gel because you can feel the floor better but all my friends say that gel doesn’t make pointe hurt as bad.
Another possibility that I’ve been thinking of is just using lamb’s wool. Any suggestions?
really they are all right because the toe pads people use depends on the dancer. personally, i feel that cloth/lamb’s wool toe pads make you feel the floor TOO much; when they get damp or after your on pointe for a long time, they start to flatten and HURT. but gel ones don’t flatten, and they come in different thicknesses of gel so you can still feel the floor if you want. next time you go buy a pair of pointe shoes in the store, try on different pairs of toe pads (you may need to get a different size shoe because some are thicker than others)
