Where should I start to repair the self-propel part of my mower?
It’s a Toro and about 3 yrs old. Everything works/runs great except for the self propel function. I’m pretty handy and am going to take a shot at fixing it….any and all advice appreciated
All the Toro drive systems use a belt from the engine to the transmission. The engagement is done mostly by tilting the transmission away from the engine to tighten the belt.
First see if the belt is there. Next, check and see if the engagement cable is working and attached to the transmission. If the problem is in the gear case, or the drive wheels, then take it to your Toro dealer.
If this is a cast Aluminum deck, take it to your dealer anyway. The cast decks have a 5 year warranty, and the drive system is covered.
