Set Photo
tips for a photo set and the location?
Ok so I’m an aspiring model and I’m doing a photo set soon…. I have a friend taking the pictures and I need some tips. Plus if you can think of unusual places for a photo set that would be greatly appreciated.
As far as locations, I like backgrounds like brick, stone, wood, etc. Try to avoid “busy” backgrounds. It might sound like a bunch of colorful flowers in the background would make for a good picture, but you want the focus to be on you – anything that draws away from you is not good.
I also like places where “props” are easily avaible – leaning against a wall, sitting on steps, etc. Having the place to rest your hands (which seems to be the hardest thing to pose) helps a lot.
I try to match the location with the outfits. I like the outfits to either complement the background or contrast a lot with it. If it were an urban shot, with weathered brick, exposed pipe, etc, I’d be comfortable shooting someone in grungy jeans or something you’d wear to a club.
