Want to open electronic store in Dehradun for Sony / Samsung?
I want to open an electronic store in Dehradun to retail major brands like Sony/Samsung, in LCD/Washing/Refri/Camera…. but i dont know how to start even though there is not right information in their own website. So can someone help me to figure out how i can proceed futher
First you need to find the contacts of Wholesale distributors for those brands in your area or nearby city. If you ask any local electronic stores, they may not tell you. So you need to contact the all these brands local Sales offices. They will give the contact details of the distributors in your area. Some distributors will be provides multiple brands. You can not buy directly from these brand companies unless you buy in very bulk quantities. They will also set a monthly / quarterly / Annual sales targets. So better option is to go through the distributor.
To have an account with a distributor, they will ask for TIN (Sales Tax ID) from your state government and if you are selling all over India, then you need CST (Central Sales Tax ID). To get a TIN number you need to be a registered business / company with local Registrar office. You can double check this.
Distributor will also ask for 6 months or 1 year bank statements if you are asking them to supply on Credit basis. If you are going to pay them for all purchases upfront, then bank statements not necessary.
All distributors will have some kind of application, that you need to fill out and submit them along with TIN / CST / PAN Card / Bank statement / Any other document that they may ask.
All distributors will be willing to sell you because they have monthly targets with those brands. They will give you in wholesale price and you can sell it in retail price. For one area, there will be atleast two distributors, so contact them both and choose who gives you better price and better service.
Without the TIN number, distributors will not sell the products to you. It’s a must
So you should do the following
1. First choose a company / business name and register it with your local registrar office
2. Apply for TIN number. Apply CST (Central Sales Tax) if you are selling outside of your own state
3. Apply for Business (Current) Account with your local bank
4. Find out the contacts of the distributors in your area
5. Setup Reseller / Dealer account with the distributor
6. Buy the products from your distributor and sell in your store
7. Take the profit and Live Happily ever after
You really need to spend lot of time in contacting people and follow up with them. In India, information is not easily available. So you have to really go behind the people to get the right information. If you start today, you will need minimum 6 weeks to setup everything and be operational. These 6 weeks, you have to really work hard to get all the information and setup everything. Call JustDial, they will give you the local distributor contacts.
Sony people are really fast in responding. Atleast in my case. I have had very worst experience with Samsung so far . This may be because the person who I’m working with.
