Why do people eat Hershey’s chocolate?
Aside from the traditional Americana appeal, why do people buy such bad chocolate? Memories of eating it as a kid? Still, that isn’t an excuse – if you grew up on instant coffee and then tried freshly ground french pressed coffee with the full spectrum of oils and flavors, you’d just be stubborn to keep drinking stirred in crystals of coffee.
While living in Europe especially I’d been asked why people buy this ‘chocolate’ in the states, and I could never come up with a reasonable answer, so I turn it over to you. Maybe in the 50s we had nothing better in America, but come on! We have access to some great chocolate at affordable prices now, why do people subject themselves to the chalky/cheap taste of Hershey?
This is a serious question, so serious answers would be appreciated…not “I like/don’t like Hersheys!”, unless backed up with some insights.
In the 50s and 60s, Hershey chocolate was actually good. As with many other products, the quality and quantity has been sacrificed for price. I am a chocolate lover, and really wish I could buy the original product, regardless of the price.
