Switching Regulator
How do I find the max input current for a switching regulator?
I have a 40VDC 4.3A power supply that I’m stepping down to 13.3V with a voltage divider (2k high side and 1k low side) when I add my PT78NR215H -15V 800mA 12W regulator I have a short and my power supply drops to 1.6V. What is the max current the regulator can handle?
The switching regulator is to feed a negative Vcc to my op amps the max input is from 9-18V hence the reason for the voltage divider.
According to the data sheet:

that regulator is not supposed to receive an input greater than 15 volts. If you can find a suitable regulator then all should be well.
