Nikon D40: Looking to get a Nikon 500mm Len’s?

First thing first, skip the 2nd one, it’s no good.
Now, 1st and 3rd option. Truth is, the Vivitar mirror lens are just rebadged Samyang. It’s actually the same lens (made by Samyang) but with different brand stickers on it. Samyang is a Korean company.
The only difference I can see there is that the Vivitar came with a 2x teleconverter that makes your lens into a 1000mm f/16 lens.
Are they good? Not really, but just to have some fun it’s quite okay.
Do remember they will not meter on the D40 (if you’re using that). It will not auto focus, and you will not be able to use any of the mode settings other than the “M” mode on your camera. Even then your camera will not tell you if the picture is too bright or too dark. You need to take a picture, check if it’s okay, adjust some settings, and take another picture.
If that’s fine with you, go ahead and get one.
