Telescope Accessories
I am somewhat new to astronomy and would like help choosing a new telescope…Thanks a lot everyone!!?
I am relatively new to astronomy, and I have a budget of about $1300 give or take a hundred. I would like a very nice telescope (I have had 2 before, one cost $250 the other about $60..so both low end) and any accessories you think would help make it a cooler experience (ie- I don’t understand the color filters and everything!). I also would like it to be relatively easy to operate. Thanks again for your help!
My honest advice is to not go spending that entire budget all at once. You can get a VERY good scope for a lot less than that. For that kind of money you can get a LOT of scope, perhaps too much for a beginner. I would recommend buying an 8 or 10 inch Dobsonian (links below), perhaps one of the intelliscope designs (or if you really want, the tracking ones, but they’re considerably pricier), and then use the difference in cost for accessories. Get some reasonable good quality EPs and maybe a basic filter set if you really want (don’t worry about the specifics, they vary a little from user to user and some don’t like them at all)
But for ease of use, the dob’s the way to go. They’re pretty much point and shoot
