How to sell and ship on ebay….?
I have a large heavy telescope, about 35 lbs. I want to sell it on ebay. How can I calculate the cost of shipping, choose a shipping company, and get the best results out of selling it?
Any tips?
Should I use paypal? Is it correct that I can’t access the payment until the buyer leaves feedback?
It’s all making me kind of nervous.
There are lots of accesories that are somewhat valuable, should I sell them separate or included?
I would take it to the USPS, UPS and FedEx to have an estimate for shipping with insurance. You will need to include the box and plenty of packing to protect the telescope. This will affect the weight, too. Ask how careful will the carrier handle the package and take that into consideration.
PayPal will not release the funds until the buyer leaves feedback for new sellers. If the buyer doesn’t leave feedback, PP will release the money after a set period of time. I can’t remember how long but it may be 30 days. Just have a tracking number to allow you to see when they received it. Give the buyer a few days to leave feedback. If he/she doesn’t, send them an e-mail kindly asking them to leave positive feedback. You can’t force them, and it is better to be nice about it. You will get your money.
As for selling the accessories, I would look on eBay to see what is selling. You can choose “completed listings” to see what your accessories could sell for. Sometimes it is better to sell each item individually. You may get more money for selling the entire lot. Every item is different. Someone who is an expert with selling telescopes and accessories could answer this question better. If you don’t get the answer here, try asking just that question on Yahoo! Answers or contact a seller on eBay that sells telescopes. GL!
