Tent Kit
Do you have a wilderness survival kit; if so, what’s in it?
We carry ours in the truck at all times. You never know when you will need it. It basically an old army gas mask bag with a compass, signal mirror, matches, lighter, small portable stove with a mess kit, plastic tent, bowie knife, flares, ghee, salt tablets, packets of electrolyte mix, hooks, line, sinkers, first aid kit, a weeks supply of medication, credit card and cash, duct tape, whistle, there is more but can’t think of it at the time.
nylon cord, power bars, hand cranked flashlight, safety pins, survival blankets, water purification tables, ziplock bags.
Mine is pretty small:
1) Matches in waterproof container and butane wind-proof lighter
2) Compass
3) Flint and steel (plus a zip-lock bag with dryer lint and steel wool)
4) My Gerber multi-knife (or Swiss Army knife – I trade off depending on the outing)
5) Space blanket
6) Shake to charge flashlight
7) 100ft of 550 cord
Needle / thread / extra button and 2 band-aids
9) Folded up trash bag (poncho)
10) A 1/2 roll of Toliet Paper in a double zip-lock bag (can’t believe no one else has this on their list !!!)
#10 has saved my *ss (pun intended) more than any other item in the kit. It makes you a HERO to anyone in your group that needs it too.
10 items that all fit in a small fanny back, or can be easily stashed in the cargo pockets of my Camelback hydration system (2L).
