Translucent Umbrella
Question for fellow photographers?
Hey guys, new to photography here. I do most of my shots in my house, or in a subject’s house or hotel/closed quarter location. I am lookiing to get lighting, and since Im a beginner, I want to start small. So I found a 32″ Umbrella Studio Lighting Kit.
Here are the specs:
35W spiral daylight white light bulb = to 140W regular light bulb
Color temperature: 5500k,
(2) 7′ light stands
(1) Small light stand
(3) AC swivel umbrella holders
(2) 32” translucent umbrellas
(3) 35WATTS 5500k daylight bulbs
(1) Carrying Case
Is this enough lighting for say, a general bedroom or hotel room? I shoot with a Canon Rebel
Ignore the hot lights kits.
Instead, I’d suggest the following. You might have to go a little over 250$.
Get 2 YUNGTUO YN-460 shoe mount flashes. They are in expensive (43$) but work great. They just don;t have any of the fancy features you would use for on camera lighting but since this is for studio lighting it doesn’t matter,

Get a couple of lightstands (50$ total)

Get some remote triggers (30$)

So around 300$
You’ll eventually want to add more receivers, get 1 or 2 more flashes, get a black umbrella, maybe a soft box … but the kit above should serve you well to start.
