Have scientists found a sealed underwater cave that proves evolution?
My friend told me that they discovered this underwater cave that was sealed of millions of years ago and unsealed it, the marine life that was in the cave at the time when it sealed off were trapped, my friend told me that because of no light very little predators yada yada that the marine life evolved into something completely different that the life on the outside of the cave. I’ve never heard of this other than from him, can someone tell me if this is true at all, or send me a link to an article?
There are all sorts of examples of cave dwelling animals evolving different sorts of features better suited to cave living. Often that includes loosing pigment or eyes or parts that are no longer useful. Animals that don’t have to grow these parts are at an advantage. It would be pretty hard to prove if something was completely different that it didn’t come from a completely different animal 3 million years ago unless someone studied the DNA.
It is not required to prove evolution. That has been proven by the fossil record. Animals have changed over time. Natural selection as the method is still the only viable scientific theory and there are not any serious doubts from a scientific point of view. Only a religious person would assume otherwise because the evidence for its validity is extensive and overwhelming.
