Tripod Lanc
What would you recommend as a LANC camcorder/tripod combo?
Hi,
I’ve been looking for a Mini DV camcorder with remote control capability and fluid head tripod since November and thought I was set with the Sony DCR-HC51 and Giottos RHD124 tripod(http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/318611-REG/Giottos_RHD124_CAM_Control_Tripod_with.html) but, the RHD124 has become discontinued in the last few days and, while I remember reading that it did have a LANC jack, it appears I made a mistake with the HC51 and it doesn’t.
The budget that I had had was £300/$430 and that included the camcorder, tripod, 20 tapes, another replacement battery, bag and case. It may be a tall order to try and keep it under this amount if I have to upgrade the camcorder or tripod but I don’t mind really but any ideas?

I should include that I live in the UK and a PAL camcorder would be preferable.
I would keep the LANC separate from the tripod.
The DCR-HC51 does not have LANC.
The least expensive consumer (new) camcorder – of which I am aware – with a LANC port is the Sony HDR-HC9.
Check the Sony RM-VD1 (standard 2.5mm LANC plug) or RM-AV2 (for the HC9).
eBenk makes a cheap LANC, too (but I don’t think it will fit the HC9 – No, I don’t know why Sony decided to use that silly non-standard LANC port).
