Unit Bounce
How many bounces does a ball require to meet its destination?
On a rectangular table, 2 units long and 5 units wide a ball is rolled from the upper left corner of the rectangle at a 45 degree angle. The ball needs to continue rolling until it at the lower left corner. How many bounces is needed for the ball to meet its destination?
This is a mathematical question. No use of science is needed. Let’s just say that rate of speed stays the smae.
Need volume (or diameter) and density or mass. We have to consider acceleration since we’re talking about the number of bounces. This is a common problem for a physics class.
If this question is in an algebra class, are you sure that they didn’t ask for revolutions of the ball? Even then, we’d need diameter.
Without weight, we cannot determine bounces since we have to consider gravity and that implies acceleration. Even though you explicitly mention that the speed stays the same.
Think about it, if the ball remains 2 revolutions a second, then it would never stop bouncing.
