Universal Pop
Why or how is π(pi) so universal ?
π is just the ratio of a circles circumference to its diameter. So how does this simple ambiguous constant pop up every where in mathematics, from infinite series to almost every type of maths I have encountered. How does the relation between the physical characteristics of a circle affect the sum of a infinite series of numbers.
The more I think about it, the more I am amazed.
The circle is extremely useful for many analogies, for example, any complex number can be represented as a point on the circle with radius equal to it’s modulus.
It also pops up in trigonometric functions, and since
e^ix = cos(x) + isin(x)
Generally, everywhere with rotation, or something that can be related to rotation in any way, you can expect Pi to appear.
