Digital Multimeters and User Manual for Proper Safety
Digital Multimeters are to be found in all areas that require testing for electrical, voltage and resistance measurements. Today, you would find them in various application areas such as during building installation, (e.g. on distribution boards, circuit-breakers, wiring, including cables, bus-bars, junction boxes, switches, socket-outlets in the fixed installation), equipment for industrial use, on household appliances, portable tools and similar equipment.
Do’s while using digital multimeters:
It is recommended that you should always use digital multimeters as per the specifications that are stated in the instruction manual. Only then you can expect it to function properly. Or else, it may either become dysfunctional or get totally damaged. Also, the protection provided by the meters may get impaired and lead to unwarranted accidents. Additionally, use intense caution when you are using digital multimeters around bare conductors or bus bars. Use only the proper terminals, function, and range for your measurements to get high accuracy. Always use the autoranging mode if you wish to measure whose range is not known.
Dont’s while using digital multimeters:
Do not ever use a digital multimeter near a noise generating equipment, or you may get inaccurate results that may be unstable with every reading. Needless to say, you should never operate the meter around explosive gas, vapor, or dust. Also, you should never use digital multimeters that have any damaged part. Check this before you use them; do not use one that has problems like a broken lead cover etc. do not use multimeters if you have doubts about their working condition. You can verify its performance ability by checking some known voltage for veracity. It is advised that you should not exceed the maximum limits of the input values as shown in the technical specification tables of the user manual for greater security.
