how can i transfer a VHS video to computer file?
i wanted to transfer my parent’s wedding video onto a computer so i could burn it onto a disc. They’ve had the original transferred onto VHS format years ago but i wanted to have it digitised. What cables or programmes would i need to do it myself, or woul it be cheaper to get it done by a pro
If you’re unlikely to transfer any other VHS tapes then it’s probably cheaper getting it done via a 3rd party. A quick search provides companies that will convert for as little as £5 per hour (eg. http://www.transfervideo.co.uk/).
The necessary cables and potentially a new graphics card capable of receiving a video signal-input will cost far more than that. If you’re still keen then this ‘how-to’ summarises what you need quite nicely:-
