Waist Level
How do you judge the exposure on a Nikon waist level finder on a Nikon f2?
I have one of these and want to try use it to take pictures, but I haven’t any idea how I would use it to focus for the Nikon F2, because there isn’t the needle that normally indicates how your exposure is going.
You have 2 options:
1. Use an external, hand-held meter.
2. Guess.
With practice, you can usually get pretty close with the “guess” method, based off the Sunny 16 rule. If you’d rather trust a meter, you can get older analogue units on Ebay pretty cheap, or you can spend $500 on a fancy digital meter. They both do the same thing, but you have to actually read an analogue meter. A digital meter just pops the exposure up on a screen.
