How much should installation of a central a/c compressor cost? Only paying labor , compressor under warranty?
Compressor went out but is still under warranty. HVAC company is charging me a total of $950 to replace it as labor warranty expired; no charge for the compressor itself. Seems high to me.
Labor for warranty compressor, they are charging you for the compressor! Because it does not take but about 3 hours, maybe less; to vacuum the old compressor, cut the lines, braze and solder the lines and filter driers, charge it with refrigerant. It should not cost you no more than $250 maximum to do this job; unless, you have a 15 ton+ unit. I have personally done this kind of work, it does not take that kind of money for warranty work.
