Will a Bower 0.16x Ultra-Wide Fisheye Lens be compatible with my Nikon D40, Nikkor 18-88mm 1:3.5-5.6 Lens?
This lens, http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/699858-REG/Bower_VLB1637_0_16x_Ultra_Wide_Fisheye_Lens.html#features with the 18-55mm kit lens that came with my d40? Thanks! If not, do you know what kind of adapter or something I can use for a fisheye? I don’t want to spend like $600 on a complete new lens… thanks!
I guess you missed the part where the lens you listed has a 37mm Thread. The thread on the front of your lens is a 52 mm, so no, it will NOT work on your camera/lens combination.
You need to remember that any filter or lens you place on the front of your cameras lens will cause some distortion (not just “fisheye”) on the edges of your images including chromatic aberrations. And too, a fisheye lens sees 180 degrees. Adding an add-on to your existing lens, will probably only produce a photo that is very distorted, not something that covers 180 degrees
If you want to by a toy to make your lens look like it is a fisheye for under $80, you are going to have to find one that fits on a 52 mm filter thread
