How bad does the condition have to be for Nike’s 2 year warranty?

I heard Nike has a 2 year warranty date on shoes,
I have the nike air force and had them for about half a year now,
I use them for basketball and workout and they are tearing and everything
How bad does the condition have to be for nike to replace mine?
My friend said that he had a rip on his and they replaced it,
Does it have to be a rip? Or just teared down??
