How to use Rolleiflex Twin Lens Reflex?
Someone just gave me this old Rolleiflex Twin Lens Reflex. I know nothing about how to use it or how it works. The top lens says Heidosmat 1:2.8/75. The bottom lens says Zeiss Opton Tessar 1:3.5 f=75mm. So I watched a video and now I know how to load the film which I pretty sure is I use to see what I am taking the picture of. There is a bunch of knobs on the side that let pull out to put the film in. There is also knobs on the front to change the shutter speed and aperture. How do I take a picture? There is a little thing in the upper right hand corner that I move to the left, is that how I take the picture? Help Me on how to use this.
Here is a picture of it so maybe if you know, you can tell me what model it is.
Also…Important!!! It came with a cord to go from the camera to the wall outlet plug in. What will it do if I plug it in? Does that like charge the battery or something?
Consider it as a new toy so go figure it out. Do not load film yet. Study how it works. Opened the viewfinder already? So what do you think, 2.5″ or 3″ LCD? Big, huh? Does it have a magnifier built-in? Extra zoom on the preview!
Open the back door, snoop around for an extra spool. Get an extra spool when you buy 120 (not 220) film. Look for the small window at the bottom or at the door. This is for checking that you are already in frame 1.
Everything is manual. No electricity here. The cord is for a flash which you don’t seem to have. Figure out how to change the shutter speed and the aperture size. Also look for the focusing and the film advance knobs. There might be a time delay lever in there too. Lastly, you have to know where the shutter button is.
Test everything. Focus first. To be sure, don’t get any closeups until you are comfortable with the lens distances. You have to crank the film advance for the shutter to c*ck. Set aperture. Set shutter speed. Fire! Then crank again.
If using the time delay, set it first first before firing, run to position then smile!
The picture comes in squares. Photo labs print in rectangles. Ask if you could have them scan the film and preserve the square format. You could have them burn the pics on a CD.
